Missing images?
Auction Hawk listings load as fast as your connection permits. Generally speaking, it should take less than one second for any of your listings to load completely (unless you are on a 56K modem).
There are several reasons why your images could be temporarily missing, or appear to be missing -- when in fact they are really there.
We strive for 100% up-time, in fact we have
not had down images in the entire years of 2003, 2004, or 2005 so far. And, we
keep three back-ups of your images in case of emergency.
Here are the reasons why your images could be missing:
Your credit card was declined. In this case, upload a new credit card. Images are restored as soon as a new card is uploaded. As an alternative, you can sign up via PayPal which also restores.
You cancelled your account. To restore an account, use the mail-password feature on the login page.
You re-listed an item, and then later you deleted the images manually from your Auction Nest. The Auction Nest turns images "green" when they are in use. But the images will not be green for the relisted items. Therefore, many users sometimes delete these images while they have an item in their pending folder. You should keep images in your nest for up to 10 days after your auction. In this case, you can add images using AddToItem.
You uploaded duplicate images, and deleted the wrong set of doubles. Use AddToItem to fix the problem.
The image may have been over the 500KB limit. In order for you to ensure the highest bidding, we recommend image sizes of 50KB max, although we allow larger ones. If the image is too big, you will chase away bidders, since they won't wait for the auction to load.
You or your bidders may be experiencing interrupted access to our server. There are over a dozen connections between you and us, and it is entirely likely that there may be a momentary hiccup.
You may have a slow connection, which causes images to temporarily appear giant-size. This means the images were too big before uploading and are taking a long time to load. Your browser doesn't know the size of the image, so it displays it at a gigantic size, until it is fully loaded.
Our image server might be temporarily down. If so, we will post a message to this effect. You can search for and check other Auction Hawk listings to see if they are down too. However, we have had no down time in 2003, 2004, or 2005 !!
